The Riggory
- Charlottesville, VA And Barboursville, VA

The farm; The Riggory and the word riggory came from the Scottish word for a stony place.
Interesting that the area just north of The Riggory is named "Stony Point".
According to Marylou; the man who first dug the foundation at the farm said:
 "Tis naught but a riggory."

Riggory is from rigor or old English rigour:
Exactness without allowance, deviation, or indulgence; strictness; as, the
rigor of criticism; to execute a law with rigor; to enforce moral duties with rigor.
And that's what we have here, at The Riggory.

Sedona

Hi All,
I've had a few projects though the winter and into this spring. I've been working on restoring a red 1973 Jeep CJ-5 and then a green 1978 Jeep CJ-5.
Re also has a project tan Jeep CJ-5.

I updated a few of you some updated pictures but that wasn't enough. I went ahead and posted more rather than emailing everyone. I included some pictures of before/during and after shots. None of them are 100% completed but close to it. I also included some pictures from 05-28-06 of our trip up the mountain and back home. Of course I should have taken 3 times the pictures I did but....

And we spent father's day 06-18-06 up in the mounatins. I posted some pics of that trip. Sorry some of them aren't too good. Its hard to take pictures inside a moving bouncing Jeep. I took the green 78 since its being built more for off road use than the red 73. The clutch started making some noise so I guess its time for a new one. Re blew out the gas tank on his and we had tp rig up a jerry can in the back with a hose run from the fuel pump. And I have none of myself, sorry.

I sold the '73 to a man in Georgia. He actually drove it all the way back without any real problems. I feel rather good about that since I spent an awful lot of time to make it right.

My newest project is another 79 Red Jeep. I picked up the fiberglass body in NC and towed it back. I put in a 258 6cly and a T18 4spd transmission. It also received 2 inches of body lift and 4 inches of suspension lift. Tires are 35X12.50 Baja Claws on 15X10 wheels. I also put in power steering and power brakes. And a ton more stuff....

First trip in the new Red 79 was on a campout 09-09-06 to Washington Forest off RT33 near the WV line. Of course I got it stuck in a hole called the bathtub within a couple of hours...

I haven't updated this for a while so here goes...

I had a new addition, a Wrangler, but before I had a chance to do much with it, I sold it. What I really wanted was a Cherokee.
So I found this red 96 Cherokee, all stock in real nice shape. The color of the Cherokee closely matches that of my 79 Red CJ so I stuck to the black wheels to match. I'm sorry I didn't take more pictures of adding the lift or any "before" pictures but I have taken a few "after" pics. Still need to do something with the bumpers....

My current vehicles are the red 1979 CJ5 and the red 1996 Cherokee.
The CJ5 has a 4 speed T18 transmission, 258 6cly, power steering, power brakes, 4 inch lift in the front and 5 inch lift in the back, and stands on 35X12.50X15 Mickey Thompson Baja Claw Radials. The body is completely fiberglass and is sitting on 2 inches of body lift with 1/4 aluminum plates to give it more strength. Giving it a total of 6 inches of lift in the front and 7 inches in the back. I also had to build a steel subframe under the center rear to keep the bed from sagging. The rear bumper is made from a massive piece of 1/4 inch 3X6 steel tube and the front is made from a piece of 5/16 channel. I used a Wrangler winch mount with 1/4 steel tabs welded to the frame to hold it in place. The winch will handle 9500 lbs so it handles the 1 1/2 tons of Jeep with ease. This is a awesome vehicle even though you almost need a step stool to get in or out of it. Still to be done is the addition of a locker in the rear.

The Cherokee has a 5 speed transmission, 4.0 HO 6 cly, power steering, power brakes, 4 1/2 inch lift in the front and 5 1/2 inch lift in the back, and stands on 33X11.50X15 BFG Mud Terrains. In the near future it will receive new bumpers, a locker in the rear, and cut out fender flares.

At any rate, here then are: JeepWeb
